Welcome to the garden!
As you may have heard, we're starting a Community Garden in town. It has potential to beautify, nutrify and unify our community.
South River has been through a lot. After Sandy, we took a huge hit on our homes and our land. A lot of space remains unloved and in need of some care. Through this garden project, we intend to cultivate the land, respect our environment, and empower our people. We aim to do that by connecting our town's residents, representatives and organizations to the garden - ensuring that everyone can benefit from the project.
This is how you can help.
- Helping Hands: We're in need of families and friends to come clean and build with us! Experienced carpenters, plumbers, and handymen are especially useful! If you're free on the dates listed below, come out and join us! We'll feed you :)
- Supply Donations: Doing any spring cleaning? Looking to get rid of extra shovels, soil or other supplies? We have a huge list of needs to get this garden going. If you have extra gardening stuff you're looking to unload, please let us know. We can arrange for pick-up and will gladly provide a donation receipt. Contact us for a complete list of our Garden Supply List.[1]
- Financial Contributions: A log goes into building and sustaining a garden! Through your financial support we can afford the supplies and staff we need to run this project. There are many upfront costs, but we will absolutely rely on continual support to manage the regular operations. If you would like to contribute, please contact 'leadership@srcommunitygarden.org'. Your help allows us to fund the garden build, and to offer educational programs, wellness events and community gatherings.
